What Do I do?
A celebrant is a person, usually from a non-clergy background, who officiates or performs ceremonies for funerals, weddings, vow renewals and naming ceremonies, and to mark any other significant life transitions or rites of passage within the community.
Planning a funeral whilst mourning and coming to terms with death can feel like an insurmountable task but I will work with you and guide you every step of the way. We’ll take our time and, at your pace, we can talk about the person who has died. I will then go and craft a service that allows your loved ones’ personality to shine through, checking in with you along the way to make sure we’re getting it right.
A celebrant is not tied to a venue. Although many funerals are still held at a crematorium, you can hold your ceremony wherever it is legally allowed. At the local pub, on a beach, at your home; whether you are holding a woodland burial or a scattering of ashes, I will tailor your ceremony or celebration to uniquely fit your own wants, needs and circumstances.
Celebrants are not tied to any religious affiliation, but I am happy to include elements of symbolism, religion or spirituality.
Everyone deserves to be honoured in a way that reflects who they truly were and I endeavour to capture the essence of your loved one when I craft and deliver each heartfelt and meaningful farewell.
Warm summer sun,
Shine kindly here,
Warm southern wind,
Blow softly here.
Green sod above,
Lie light, lie light.
Good night, dear heart,
Good night, good night.
